Description
Limited-edition envelope (only 50 copies) featuring a colour illustration of the Surveyor III probe, which transmitted 6,315 images and data on the nature of the lunar soil. Stamped and postmarked envelope dated 20 April 1967, the day after its landing on the Moon.
SURVEYOR PROGRAMME – The programme comprised seven Surveyor probes (30 May 1966 to 20 February 1968). Surveyor 1 was the first American probe to land on the Moon. In total, five Surveyor probes landed on the Moon and transmitted some 86,326 images and data from our satellite (Surveyor 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7). However, Surveyor 2 and 4 crashed on the Moon.
