SURVEYOR IV: launched on 14 July 1967 – Crashed on the Moon. 5 photographs: - 1 colour photograph (20 x 25 cm) of a Surveyor, courtesy of JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory). - 1 black-and-white photograph, 16 x 20 cm, of a Surveyor 4 prototype model tested at Hughes Aircraft Company (caption on the back). - 1 black-and-white photograph of a multiple exposure of the Surveyor’s arm (caption on the back). - 1 black-and-white photograph, 16 x 20 cm, of a Surveyor 4 prototype model tested by technicians at Hughes Aircraft Company to prepare for a soft moon landing (caption on the back). -1 black-and-white 16 x 20 cm photograph of a Surveyor model (no caption). SURVEYOR PROGRAMME – The programme comprised seven Surveyor probes (30 May 1966 to 20 February 1968). Surveyor 1 was the first American probe to land on the Moon. In total, five Surveyor probes landed on the Moon and transmitted some 86,326 images and data from our satellite (Surveyor 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7). However, Surveyor 2 and 4 crashed on the Moon.
