Description
Set of 2 ASTP envelopes: 1 Russian envelope featuring a photograph of the two crews, postmarked in Russia (12.5 cm × 19 cm), and 1 American envelope bearing the mission emblem (9 cm × 16.5 cm). Cancelled on the day of the mission’s launch, 15 July 1975.
Apollo-Soyuz (ASTP, standing for Apollo-Soyuz Test Project) was the very first joint space mission between the Soviet Union and the United States, which took place from 15 July to 24 July 1975.
On the American side, the crew consisted of astronauts Donald Slayton, Thomas Stafford and
Vance Brand. On the Russian side, astronauts Alexei Leonov and Valery Kubasov completed the crew.
