Description
2 envelopes: one featuring a black-and-white photograph of President Richard Nixon visiting Moscow to sign the space treaty for the Apollo-Soyuz mission (24 May 1972), and the other a black-and-white photograph of the Soviet officials responsible for the ASTP flight arriving at the Marschall Space Centre (Houston) on 6 July 1972. 16.5 cm × 9.5 cm, both postmarked on the day of the events in their respective countries. Apollo-Soyuz (ASTP, standing for Apollo-Soyuz Test Project) was the very first joint space mission between the Soviet Union and the United States, which took place from 15 July to 24 July 1975. On the American side, the crew consisted of astronauts Donald Slayton, Thomas Stafford and Vance Brand. On the Russian side, astronauts Alexei Leonov and Valery Kubasov completed the crew.
