Set of two NASA photographs: one in colour, the other an identical black-and-white version, taken from the space shuttle Discovery during the STS-26 mission (29 September to 3 October 1988). View of the Tambora Caldera, Sumbawa Island, Indonesia. Tambora is a crater 6 km wide and 650 m deep, formed in 1815 as a result of a major volcanic eruption. NASA photographs, 20 x 25, numbered S26-38-56 and captioned on the reverse. Images of Earth from the Space Shuttle STS missions – NASA photographs taken during various missions aboard the space shuttles Columbia, Challenger, Discovery and Atlantis.
