Description
Set of 3 colour Russian postage stamps, designed by cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, dating from 1968. Text in Russian. Sheet measuring 11 x 7 cm, with each stamp measuring 3.5 cm. Four missions are featured:
- 1 x 4-kopek stamp commemorating the very first human spacewalk, carried out by Alexei Leonov for 12 minutes (the Voskhod 2 mission of 18 and 19 March 1965, with cosmonauts Alexei Leonov and Pavel Beliaev). Illustration featured on the stamp.
-The first soft landing on the Moon carried out by the Luna 9 probe on 3 February 1966. The probe’s objective was to gather information on the characteristics of the lunar soil (stamp without an illustration).
-One 6-kopek stamp depicting the very first Soviet automatic docking between the spacecraft Cosmos 186 (launched on 27 October 1967) and Cosmos 188, launched on 30 October 1967.The two spacecraft remained docked for 3 hours and 30 minutes before separating and returning to Earth. Illustration featured on the stamp.
-1 10-kopek stamp commemorating the first landing of a space probe, Venera 4, on the planet Venus on 10 October 1967. Design featured on the stamp.
