RARE EGYPTIAN LIMESTONE OFFERING SLAB WITH FOOD OFFERINGS.
Middle Kingdom, 11th Dynasty to 12th Dynasty, Ca. 2137 - 1781 BC. A limestone rectangular offering slab carved in the form of a hetep ("offering") hieroglyph, with a shallow drainage groove at the top. The central field is in raised relief with tall libation vessels at either side, together with loaves of bread, an ox shank, a goose, and a rib. The slab probably stood before the false door in a family tomb. For the type of offering slab, see S.
