LARGE EGYPTIAN BRONZE SISTRUM WITH HATHOR. Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 664 - 30 BC. A bronze sistrum with a cylindrical handle surmounted by a double-sided head of Hathor, with cow's ears, a Hathoric hairstyle, and a usekh collar, flanked by two outward-facing uraei, each wearing the Double Crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, and a tall U-shaped frame fitted with three transverse rods with recurved ends. A seated cat is set within the arch above Hathor's head. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number EA38172. Size: 285mm x 70mm; Weight: 765g Provenance: Private London, acquired on the German art market; Ex Collection Prof. M. E. Winkler, acquired in the 1950s and 1960s. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
