EGYPTIAN BRONZE FIGURINE OF AN OXYRHYNCHUS FISH. Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 664 - 30 BC. A bronze figurine of an oxyrhynchus fish on a long flat base strip. The elongated body tapers to a forked tail, with a dorsal fin, pointed snout, and inlaid circular eyes. The fish wears a Hathoric crown, with a solar disc between cow horns, and a suspension loop projects behind. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 04.2.660. Size: 160mm x 100mm; Weight: 455g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously part of an Oxfordshire ancient art collection; acquired from a Canadian collection formed between the 1970s and 2000.
