LARGE EGYPTIAN FAIENCE FROG AMULET.
Ca. 664 - 30 BC. A pale green faience amulet in the form of a squatting frog, modelled in high relief atop an oval base. The body is rendered with folded limbs, the head slightly raised and tapering forward with incised linear detail indicating the spine. For similar see: Christie's, Live Auction 2770, Ancient Jewelry, Lot 336. Size: 35mm x 25mm; Weight: 16g Provenance: Private UK collection; from an old British collection; Ex. Bonhams; previously with Petit Musée, Montreal; Harry Toulch collection, Montreal, acquired from the above 8 June 1996.
