GREEK BLACK-FIGURE OINOCHOE WITH MAENADS. Ca. 540 - 470 BC. A black-figure oinochoe with an ovoid body tapering to a disc-shaped foot, a short neck below a trefoil mouth and a single strap handle. The front is painted with two seated maenads within a reserved panel framed by dotted borders. The shoulder is decorated with pendant strokes, and the neck is painted with dotted bands. For similar see: Christie's, Live Auction 19738, Antiquities, Lot 61. Size: 225mm x 125mm; Weight: 465g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier circulating on the Belgium art market in the 1980s. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
