Description
APULIAN RED-FIGURE BELL KRATER WITH LADY OF FASHION.
Ca. 350 BC.
A red-figure bell krater with a flaring mouth and a thickened rim above a deep body on a discoid foot, with a pair of upturned handles. The exterior is decorated with a laurel band below the lip, and the handle panels are framed by scrolling tendrils. Side A is painted with a lady of fashion in left profile, wearing a beaded sakkos and a pendant earring. Side B is painted with a lion devouring a bird, with a second bird perched on its back.
