Description
LARGE HELLENISTIC BRONZE STATUETTE OF A DRAPED MALE FIGURE.
Ca. 200 - 100 BC. A large bronze statuette of a male figure standing with the weight set on the left leg. He is draped in a himation, wrapped diagonally across the torso and gathered at the left side, with deep folds falling in heavy vertical pleats over the lower body. A broad fold crosses the chest and passes over the right shoulder, enclosing the right arm beneath the drapery. The left arm rests close to the body. At the back, the mantle descends in a long panel from the shoulder and spreads across the legs. The feet are sandalled, with incised straps and soles.
