Description
APULIAN RED-FIGURE KRATER WITH LADIES OF FASHION.
Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A red-figure krater with a broad flaring mouth and a thickened rim above a deep body on a tall stem and a spreading foot. A pair of horizontal handles is set at the shoulder. The zone below the rim is painted with a laurel band. Both sides are painted with a female head in left profile, wearing a radiate stephane and a beaded sakkos. The heads are framed by scrolling tendrils and dotted rosettes. For similar see: A. D. Trendall, A.
