Description
ATTIC BLACK-FIGURE LEKYTHOS WITH DIONYSUS AND SATYRS.
Ca. 520 - 480 BC.
A black-figure lekythos with a ring foot and a tapering body surmounted by a broad shoulder, a cylindrical neck, and a flaring mouth, with a strap handle rising from the shoulder to the neck. The shoulder is decorated with palmettes, with a band of meander below. The body shows Dionysus flanked by satyrs amid scrolling vines, with two birds framing the scene.
