Description
RARE GREEK CHALCIDIAN TINNED BRONZE HELMET.
Ca. 500 - 300 BC. A tinned bronze Chalcidian helmet with a high bowl, a projecting nose guard, almond-shaped eye openings, and a pair of cheek pieces attached on hinges. A raised median ridge runs over the crown to the front, and the lower edge is drawn out at the back into a flared neck guard. At the apex is a square quadripartite attachment plate form Plume. Size: 320mm x 250mm; Weight: 1.06kg Provenance: London private collection; Previously in a UK art gallery in the 2010's; Ex Marcus Prill, Belgium, 2000s; Previously with Leo Mildenberg, Switzerland, 1980s-1990s. Previously in the M. Ebnöther collection, Switzerland, 1970s-1980s. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
