ROMAN LEGIONARY IRON MONTEFORTINO HELMET. Ca. 300 - 1 BC. An iron Montefortino helmet with a rounded conical bowl rising to a prominent apex knob. The lower edge is finished with a narrow flanged rim, with small lateral lugs at the sides. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1873,0820.226. Size: 220mm x 215mm; Weight: 825g Provenance: London private collection; Ex M Koenig, Belgium, 2000s; Previously in the Siegfried Schmidli collection, 1970s-1980s, Switzerland. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
