PAIR OF ROMAN BRONZE SCALE ARMGUARDS.
Ca. AD 300 - 500. A pair of bronze armguards, each formed as a panel composed of rows of overlapping rectangular scales. Each guard is mounted on a shaped backing, with fastening cords at the sides. Size: 205-205mm x 180-180mm; Weight: 635g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier circulating on the Netherlands art market in the 1980s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
