RARE ROMAN MARBLE TOMBSTONE WITH TOGATUS AND GREEK INSCRIPTION.
Ca. AD 100 - 300. A marble tombstone fragment carved in relief with a togatus standing within an arched niche, drapery falling in broad folds across the body. A smaller figure stands at his side. Greek inscription is preserved above and to the right. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 2018.838. Size: 220mm x 170mm; Weight: 3.79kg Provenance: Property of a Swiss collector; Ex Swiss collection 1990's. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
