RARE BYZANTINE FRESCO DEPICTING AN ANGEL.
Ca. AD 500 - 700.
A fresco fragment depicting a frontal bust of an angel with long dark hair falling to the shoulders. The figure wears a dark mantle, with wings extending behind. The face has large almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose and a small closed mouth, painted against an ochre ground.
