RARE KHAZAR IRON EQUESTRIAN EQUIPMENT.
Ca. AD 900 - 1000. An iron equestrian equipment including, from upper left to right: a domed helmet with a broad band running across the crown and a lower riveted band encircling the base; a pair of stirrups, each with an arched frame, a rectangular openwork footplate, an upper plate with a rectangular slot for the suspension strap, and silver scrollwork inlay along the sides; and an iron horse bit with a jointed mouthpiece, curved cheek pieces with flared terminals, rectangular strap loops, and silver scrollwork across the outer faces; below, an iron sword with a long double-edged blade tapering to a point, a straight crossguard inlaid with silver scrollwork, and a flat rectangular tang.
