Description
BRONZE AGE / EARLY GREEK PERIOD BRONZE SWORD. Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A bronze sword with a long tapering blade of flattened lentoid section, narrowing evenly to a sharp point. A strong midrib runs the length of the blade, with a narrow fuller to either side. The hilt is fitted with oval riveted projections on both faces and bordered by a serrated edge, below a mushroom pommel. Size: 595mm x 70mm; Weight: 700g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously part of an Oxfordshire ancient art collection; acquired from a Canadian collection formed prior to 2000 This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
