BRONZE AGE / EARLY GREEK PERIOD BRONZE SWORD WITH STONE POMMEL.
Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A bronze sword with a long tapering blade narrowing to a sharp point, with a central fuller. The hilt is separated from the blade by a crescent-shaped flange and has a short grip with two moulded rings, finished with a mushroom-shaped stone pommel. Size: 530mm x 80mm; Weight: 625g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously part of an Oxfordshire ancient art collection; acquired from a Canadian collection formed prior to 2000 This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
