Description
BRONZE AGE / EARLY GREEK PERIOD BRONZE DAGGER WITH DECORATED BONE HANDLE. Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A bronze dagger with a long tapering blade, both faces cut with narrow longitudinal fullers terminating about one third of the way above the tip. The blade is set in a bone hilt broadening towards the shoulders and decorated on both faces with rows of drilled circular motifs. A red collar separates the grip from the rounded pommel, which is surmounted by a small bronze cap. Size: 390mm x 50mm; Weight: 335g Provenance: Private London collection; formerly in M. Ebnother collection, Switzerland,1980s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
