PAIR OF OSTROGOTHIC SILVER ALLOY FIBULAS. Ca. AD 500 - 600. A pair of silver fibulas, each composed of a half-round head plate surmounted by five knop terminals, above a short ribbed arched bow and a diamond-shaped foot with three lateral projections on either side, ending in a knop. Both the head plate and the foot are filled with spiral ornament. For similar see: Christie's, Live Auction 2375, Ancient Jewelry, 9 December 2010, Lot 447. Size: 90-90mm x 50-50mm; Weight: 50g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the German art market; Ex Private collection in southern Germany, acquired in the 1990s from the southern German art market. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy. This item has a German export licence.
