PAIR OF OSTROGOTHIC SILVER ALLOY FIBULAS.
Ca. AD 500 - 600. A pair of silver fibulas, each composed of a half-round head plate surmounted by five knop terminals, above a short ribbed arched bow and a lozenge-shaped foot. The foot is flanked by three projections on each side, the uppermost formed as a loop, and ends in a knop terminal. The head plate is decorated with concentric semi-circular bands, and the foot with concentric lozenge-shaped ornament in relief. Size: 85-85mm x 50-50mm; Weight: 55g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the German art market; Ex Private collection in southern Germany, acquired in the 1990s from the southern German art market. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy. This item has a German export licence. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
