Description
SOUTH ARABIAN ALABASTER FEMALE FIGURE. Ca. AD 1 - 200. An alabaster female figure with a broad and compact body on a raised base. The mask-like face has arched brows, deeply recessed almond-shaped eyes, a long straight nose and a small incised mouth. A straight fringe runs across the forehead, with the hair falling in thick masses to either side of the head. The rounded breasts are set wide apart on the chest, with the forearms folded below and the hands meeting.
