MESOPOTAMIAN GOLD LEAF WITH A DEITY AND TWO HEROES.
Ca. 2200 - 1800 BC. A rectangular gold leaf in repousse with three standing figures in a single register between rope-twist borders. At the centre stands a deity wearing a horned headdress. On either side stands a bearded hero in profile, wearing a long robe and holding a dagger in the raised outer hand. Small perforations run around the edges for attachment. Size: 47.1mm x 89.5mm; Weight: 11g Provenance: Private London collection; Previous property of a North American Gentleman, London,1990-2010. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
