RARE BABYLONIAN CLAY TABLET WITH CUNEIFORM INSCRIPTION.
Ca. 1894 - 1595 BC. A rectangular clay tablet with a cuneiform inscription arranged in 18 columns and seven horizontal registers. The script is divided by ruled lines into a regular grid. The inscription continues onto the reverse, where a shorter section of cuneiform appears along the upper edge. Mounted on a modern metal stand. Size: 240mm x 160mm; Weight: 1.5kg Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier present on the Belgium art market in the 1990s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
