Description
EGYPTIAN PAINTED WOODEN MUMMY MASK.
Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 664 - 30 BC.
A cedar wood mummy mask covered with gesso and painted in polychrome, with an oval face, a projecting straight nose, and a small mouth. The face is framed by a tall black-painted headdress, with large black-painted eyes beneath thick brows. The reverse is flat and pierced with a series of circular holes for attachment.
Size: 250mm x 200mm; Weight: 600g
Provenance: Private London collection; previously from a New York private collection assembled in the 1980s.
