Description
PAIR OF EGYPTIAN WOODEN MUMMY MASKS.
Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 664 - 30 BC.
A pair of mummy masks carved from cedar wood, each with a rounded face, a tall headdress across the forehead, a straight nose, and a small mouth above a rounded chin. The reverse is flat and pierced with a series of circular holes for attachment, with surviving wooden dowels in places.
Size: 175-200mm x 100-115mm; Weight: 840g
Provenance: Private London collection; previously from a New York private collection assembled in the 1980s.
