Description
EGYPTIAN (or later) GRANITE KNEELING MALE FIGURE HOLDING A LOTUS FLOWER. Late to Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 664 - 30 BC (or later). A granite kneeling male figure on a rectangular plinth, wearing a bag wig and a shendyt kilt. The body is upright with the legs folded beneath. The left hand rests on the left knee, and the right hand is held to the chest, clasping a lotus flower. The face is broad, with almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and a full mouth. The wig falls in a smooth mass to the shoulders and down the back. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number EA111. Size: 200mm x 100mm; Weight: 1.4kg Provenance: Private London collection; Ex Japanese collection 1980's, with Gideon Sasson, Jerusalem.
