LARGE ROMAN BRONZE FIGURINE OF A CAPRICORN.
Ca. AD 1 - 200. A bronze figurine of a capricorn, with the forepart of a goat and an upturned fish tail. The head has a tapering muzzle and tightly curled horns, and the forelegs are folded beneath the chest. The tail is textured with scales. Size: 75mm x 50mm; Weight: 130g Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Switzerland; previously in the C.B. collection, 1970s–1990s This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
