BYZANTINE GILT-BRONZE THREE-OUNCE WEIGHT. Ca. AD 400 - 700. A bronze weight of square form, with bevelled edges and a plain reverse. The obverse is engraved with a stylised architectural setting of three vaults resting on four columns, with a central cross flanked by two Greek gamma letters, one indicating ounce and the other the number three, with an inscription running above. Size: 35mm x 35mm; Weight: 85g Provenance: Private London collection; previously on the French art market during the 1970s–1980s.
