BYZANTINE SILVER-INLAID BRONZE WEIGHT WITH VIRGIN MARY.
Ca. AD 300 - 500. A bronze weight of square form, the obverse decorated with a frontal bust of the Virgin Mary, haloed and in silver inlay, with a cross at the side and numerals below. The composition is enclosed within a plain frame. Size: 25mm x 25mm; Weight: 20g Provenance: Private London collection; previously on the French art market during the 1970s–1980s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
