BYZANTINE GLAZED TERRACOTTA BOWL WITH CENTRAL MOTIF - EX ASHMOLEAN MUSEUM COLLECTION. Ca. AD 1300 - 1500. A glazed terracotta bowl with a deep, rounded body on a low pedestal foot. The exterior is coated with a dark slip. The interior is decorated with a radiating composition of elongated panels in alternating green and amber, arranged around a central medallion. Size: 125mm x 65mm; Weight: 245g Provenance: Property of a central London gallery; Ex collection of James Alfred Brew (1923 - 2008), collected in Cyprus during the 1960s. Thence by descent to Elaine Brew. Discovered in Elea. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
