URARTIAN BRONZE EWER WITH DOG PROTOME.
Ca. 1000 - 800 BC. A bronze ewer with a globular body and a broad cylindrical neck, with a flat disc mouth surmounted by a large loop handle. A dog-headed spout projects from the shoulder, the narrow muzzle pierced at the tip. Size: 240mm x 175mm; Weight: 1.13kg Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the London art market; formerly with R. Unger, Parthenon gallery, 1990s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
