BRONZE AGE AXE HEAD WITH FOUR SPIKES.
Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A bronze axe head with a broad down curving blade with raised edges, and a cylindrical socket moulded with three strands extending onto the blade. Four spikes project from the rear of the socket. For similar see: The Louvre Museum, Museum number AO 20407. Size: 215mm x 90mm; Weight: 375g Provenance: Private UK collection; ex Oxfordshire ancient art collection; ex Canadian collection, 1970s–2000. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
