Description
SOUTH ARABIAN ALABASTER HEAD.
Ca. 300 - 100 BC. An alabaster head carved with a broad oval face, arched brows and large almond-shaped eyes with drilled pupils. The nose is long and straight, above a small mouth. The cheeks are full, and the chin is rounded. The hair is treated as a plain cap across the forehead, with the ears set to either side. Mounted on a modern stand. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
