Description
GREEK GNATHIAN EPICHYSIS.
Ca. 320 - 280 BC. An epichysis with a pear-shaped body on a low moulded foot and a tall neck below a mouth with an oblique spout. The strap handle rises above the rim. The body is decorated in added white, yellow and red with rosettes and floral sprays above a key band. The central section is painted with a horizontal register of white petal shapes divided by a red line, with a rosette at the centre. The neck is encircled by ovolo and dotted bands.
