STUNNING MASSIVE LATE ROMAN GLASS JUG. Ca. AD 100 - 300. A free-blown translucent green glass jug with a broad globular body, a tall waisted neck, and a collared mouth. A single strap handle rises from the rim and returns to the shoulder. The base is concave. For similar see: C. S. Lightfoot, The Cesnola Collection of Cypriot Art, Ancient Glass, Cat. 150. Size: 250mm x 200mm; Weight: 640g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the London art market; previously in the collection of D. Ruskin, Oxford, 1990s. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
