COLLECTION OF VIKING IRON AXE HEADS.
Ca. AD 700 - 900.
A collection of three iron axe heads, including, from left to right: a broad bearded axe head with a curved lower edge, a thick socket with an oval haft hole, and a squared poll; a compact axe head with a broad wedge-shaped blade, a rounded haft hole, and a hammer butt; and an axe head with a fan-shaped blade on one side and a tapering pick on the other, with an oval haft hole at the centre.
