COLLECTION OF VIKING IRON AXE HEADS.
Ca. AD 700 - 900.
A collection of three iron axe heads, including, from left to right: a robust axe head with a trapezoidal blade, slightly thickened cheeks around the haft hole, and a rounded butt; a wide bearded axe head with a broad blade flaring to a curved cutting edge and a deep lower sweep beneath the haft hole; and a slender bearded axe head with a long descending lower edge.
