PAIR OF INDUS VALLEY CHALICES WITH GEOMETRIC DECORATION.
Ca. 2500 - 2200 BC.
A pair of pottery chalices, each with a deep, rounded bowl on a tall trumpet foot and a broad everted rim. Both are decorated with linear ornament around the exterior, including hatched panels, lattices, and pendant arches, with broad horizontal bands encircling the feet.
Size: 200-205mm x 135-160mm; Weight: 1.65kg
Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1990s on the UK /European art markets.
