GANDHARAN STUCCO CROSS-LEGGED BODHISATTVA.
Ca. AD 100 - 300. A stucco bodhisattva seated cross-legged on a lotus base beside a short column. The figure wears layered drapery falling in soft folds across the shoulders, chest, and legs, with a necklace and sash across the torso. The face is full, with heavy-lidded eyes, an arched browline, and parted lips. The hair falls in wavy locks. The left hand holds a small vial. Size: 290mm x 170mm; Weight: 1.54kg Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in the early 2000s in France; previously in 1970s European collection. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
