Description
PAIR OF CHINESE TERRACOTTA FEMALE DANCERS - TL TESTED.
Tang dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907.
A pair of terracotta female dancers, each standing with the long robe flaring towards the hem and wearing a close-fitting bodice with a sash draped diagonally across the chest. The heads are turned slightly upward, with high coiffures. The hands are concealed within long sleeves, one arm raised beside the head and the other lowered at the side. Traces of red, green, and black pigment remain on the robes and heads.
