PAIR OF CHINESE TERRACOTTA FEMALE FIGURES, MUSICIAN AND DANCER.
Tang dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907.
A pair of terracotta female figures, including, from left to right: a standing musician in a pale robe with red sleeves and shawl, holding a flute in both hands before the chest, her hair gathered into a high topknot; and a standing dancer in a red skirt and pale upper garment with green shawl, her head tilted upward and both arms raised in a lively gesture, with the hair dressed in double knots.

Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK /European art markets.
