PAIR OF CHINESE TERRACOTTA FEMALE STANDING MUSICIANS - TL TESTED.
Tang dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907.
A pair of terracotta female musicians, from left to right: a standing figure in a long robe with flared skirt and a shawl draped across the shoulders, holding a flute in both hands before the chest; and a standing figure in a long robe with a shawl draped across the shoulders, holding a pair of hand cymbals before the chest. Traces of red, white, black, and green pigment remain on the garments and heads.

Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK /European art markets.
