PAIR OF CHINESE TERRACOTTA FEMALE MUSICIANS.
Tang dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907.
A pair of terracotta female musicians, from left to right: a standing figure in a pale upper garment with orange sleeves and a green skirt, holding a lute across the chest, her hair dressed in double knots and her lips red; and a seated figure in a pale upper garment and red skirt, holding a smaller lute before her, with the hair gathered in a high knot.
Size: 250-360mm x 135-150mm; Weight: 2.35kg
Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1990s on the UK /European art markets.
