PAIR OF CHINESE TERRACOTTA FEMALE FIGURES, MUSICIAN AND DANCER. Tang dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. A pair of terracotta female figures, from left to right: a seated musician in a long robe, with the hands resting on a barrel-shaped drum laid across the lap, her hair arranged in a high coiffure; and a standing dancer in a long skirt and short upper garment, with both arms raised in an expressive gesture, her head tilted upward and her hair drawn into a looped top knot. Size: 250-330mm x 135-145mm; Weight: 2.17kg Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed before 2000 on the UK /European art markets.
